The Evolution of Vulcanisation Royale in St-Hyacinthe - Company History - Our Beginnings

In 1958, Vulcanisation Royale was located on Rue Des Cascades in St-Hyacinthe.  Then the company moved on to Laurier Boulevard Est, where it remains today.  At the time, Ernest Henault and Martin Coutu were the owners.  Normand St-Sauveur, the son of future owner Abel St-Sauveur was already working there.  In 1962, Mr. St-Sauveur, an electrician who was well-known by everyone, brought the garage.

Later, Serge, another of Mr. St-Sauveur's sons, began working for the electric and tire retread (vulcanization) company.  In 1987, Abel retired and entrusted Vulcanisation Roayle to his two sons, Serge and Normand.  The two St-Sauveur brothers offered a complete range of general mechanics services and the company became one of the 10 founders of the UNIPNEU new tires network.

A Family Story in St-Hyacinthe

Manon St-Sauveur, Norman's daughter, became treasurer and administrator of the family business. Looking back, she said: "It's really 50 years of our family who are in this business.  Throughout my childhood, I came here to do accounting with my grandmother Dolores, and small tasks with the company paperwork.  It was written in the stars that I would finally spend my whole life doing it!".

In 1988, Manon joined the company to take care of administrative tasks related to the expansion of the premises.   In addition, there was the forming of the Auto Decor division under the Docteur du Pare-Brise banner in 1990.  As we approached the new millennium, the premises of Vulcanisation Royale were redesigned and enlarged.

Three St-Sauveur Family Generations

In 2012, after 50 years in business, the company saw the arrival of the third generation of St-Sauveurs.  Serge and Normand having retired, Serge family and the manager of Auto-Décor, Robert Demers, took the reins of this successful business.  Michèle puts it this way: "Vulcanisation Royale remains in the family and this is perhaps what has made our brand and difference all these years. We wish to grow the business for many years, respect what has been done and the tradition that was established by our parents."

The premises at Vulcanisation Royale are now 100,000 sq.ft. and will probably be expanded to provide more services.  Come visit one of the largest automotive centres, tires, mechanical and car accessories, in the St-Hyacinthe region !
