7-Days Exemption Clause to Install Your Winter Tires

Will you be changing vehicules between December 1st and March 15?

Did you know that you can enjoy a 7-day extension allowing you to PURCHASE and INSTALL your winter tires at the location of your choice?

This extension is granted when:

  • you purchase a vehicle from a merchant or a dealer;
  • a sales contract or transit order is placed in the vehicle;
  • you purchase a vehicle from an individual, where the buyer is required, during registration of the transaction with the SAAQ, to obtain a winter tire exemption certificate valid for a period of seven days.

It is very easy to obtain this certificate free at SAAQ-sponsored service centres or online at www.saaq.gouv.qc.ca.

Please note that obtaining this certificate also applies to people who use their vehicles to leave or return to Québec, or who wish to put them back into operation, or who wish to cancel a long-term lease before the lease end date.
